Product Description
This is a daily, one-year devotional tool containing Bible readings that highlight the major teachings, characters, and events of Scripture for the new Bible reader.

Amazon.com Review
Meet the Bible is a day-by-day book of biblically inspired meditations written with Gen-Xers in mind. In fact, "fresh" is a word that the authors often use to describe this innovative blend of Scripture and devotionals. While traditional devotionals often lack the substance that can be found in Scripture, daily reading Bibles are often too dense and time-consuming for the average 20-something reader. Using brief but direct excerpts from Scripture, the authors guide readers to the Bible's key passages, themes, and events, in which the youthfully and culturally sophisticated commentary by Philip Yancey and Brenda Quinn helps them understand the relevance of these ancient stories. Each day gets one to two pages of text and closes with a contemplation, such as "When you experience success, whom do you tend to credit, yourself or God?"

5 out of 5 stars This book will transform your walk with Christ   March 20, 2009
Shaunna Vella
I would recommend this book over any other devotional that I have seen or heard of. Once you really get into it, it's a book that you don't want to put down. It really draws you in, captivates your interest, then touches your heart and soul.

It's especially wonderful for those beginning their walk with Christ, or even those who have been a Christian for a while but have not yet read much of the bible.

There is not a single bad thing to say about this book. It was very well written.

3 out of 5 stars Nice, but could be more insightful   February 2, 2009

It's good, and I like that they broke the Bible up into small chunks so that it doesn't seem so intimidating, but most of the blurbs after the reading are very basic. Like, you can logic that out for yourself basic. I think I was looking for something a little more insightful. It tends to oversimplify the Bible instead of showing all the multitude of ways that everything is connected. I wanted my Bible knowledge to be expanded, not dumbed down.

5 out of 5 stars Great for Graduating High School Seniors   May 29, 2008
K. Foote (Green Bay, WI USA)
We have used this book for years as a part of a gift package that we give our graduating high school seniors. I feel as though it's structure, simplicity, and depth are perfect...even if it doesn't get opened until they are 30, it will be waiting for them and forever relevant in their lives. - Kirk Foote, Young Life Green Bay

This book is about all the main stories from the bible with a commentary after each by yancey and quinn, it is a very easy introduction to the bible and easy to read for anyone, especially those who find the bible tough going. I brought this book for my husband on the recommendation of 40yr male, and he was right, my husband loves it has brought one for his friend and is still reading it months after I brought it. A great book to read completely through, to get a good knowledge of the bible

This is an excellent book. It makes the Bible easily understood. The strong connection between the old and new testments is very clear. The explanations by the authors give a deeper understanding of book.
I strongly recommend this book.
