Amazon.com Review Unhappiness in marriage often has a simple root cause: we speak different love languages, believes Dr. Gary Chapman. While working as a marriage counselor for more than 30 years, he identified five love languages: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch. In a friendly, often humorous style, he unpacks each one. Some husbands or wives may crave focused attention; another needs regular praise. Gifts are highly important to one spouse, while another sees fixing a leaky faucet, ironing a shirt, or cooking a meal as filling their "love tank." Some partners might find physical touch makes them feel valued: holding hands, giving back rubs, and sexual contact. Chapman illustrates each love language with real-life examples from his counseling practice. How do you discover your spouses and your own love language? Chapmans short questionnaires are one of several ways to find out. Throughout the book, he also includes application questions that can be answered more extensively in the beautifully detailed companion leather journal (an exclusive Amazon.com set). Each section of the journal corresponds with a chapter from the book, offering opportunities for deeper reflection on your marriage. Although some readers may find choosing to love a spouse that they no longer even like hoping the feelings of affection will follow later a difficult concept to swallow, Chapman promises that the results will be worth the effort. "Love is a choice," says Chapman. "And either partner can start the process today." --Cindy Crosby. This text refers to the Amazon.com Exclusive Journal & Paperback Book Set.

bait and switch March 10, 2010 Namaste (Washington, DC) Buyer beware. I thought I was ordering just one copy but was charged for 4. Didn't realize until I received them in the mail.
Book March 9, 2010 Alycia Donovan (Brooklyn, NY) This is the best relationship book for all ages. Knowing what love language you speak is very important to understanding how to communicate your needs. This is also, important when speaking a love language to your loved one and how to have a successful, healthy, happy relationship.
Simple. Direct. Helpful. March 6, 2010 S. G. Acosta (Salt Lake City Utah) The book is very basic but it offers a good approach to relationships and I really thought it was helpful. Sometimes it is the simple stuff that works!
So worth it March 5, 2010 Timothy E. Lewellen I'm engaged and this book was recommended to me and WOW I read it and I feel it will have such a profound impact at day one of my marriage and will help me NOT "learn the hard way" when it comes to communicating and expressing love between spouses.
Essential For Anyone Married or Getting Married March 4, 2010 Sarah S. (MA) This book really set the pace of my marriage. My husband and I read this book about 2 months into our marriage and what an eye opener. Without it I don't know if we would be as happily married as we are today. We read tons of marriage books when we were newly weds and this one was really the only beneficial one. It is still one that stays in the back of our minds and one we go back to when we need a reminder on how to best show our love for the other person. We've been married for over 3 years now and are still completely in love and this book really played an important role in that!
