Product Description
For Christians seeking a way of thinking outside of strict dualities, this guide explores methods for letting go of division and living in the present. Drawn from the Gospels, Jesus, Paul, and the great Christian contemplatives, this examination reveals how many of the hidden truths of Christianity have been misunderstood or lost and how to read them with the eyes of the mystics rather than interpreting them through rational thought. Filled with sayings, stories, quotations, and appeals to the heart, specific methods for identifying dualistic thinking are presented with simple practices for stripping away ego and the fear of dwelling in the present.

Learning to Experience God without words July 28, 2010 B. P. OHARA I found this book to be a revelation on changing my connection to God as an
experiential one instead of one defined by words or theology. The internal part
of spirituality is the center of the flow that creates your outward actions. Richard Rohr examines the Christian practices of external dogma that creates a dualist mind that judges, rationalizes, and allows complacency through certitude.
I heartily recommend this book to anyone who wants to challenge themselves by being resposible for their own spiritual path.
Brilliant in every way July 25, 2010 JoyousAndFree This is one of those books that, for me, clears up questions and confusion brilliantly. I'm two thirds of the way through it and can't put it down. Fr. Rohr's scope and depth take me to a place of hope, healing and heaven -- yes, heaven. He is clearly someone who has seen it all -- the suffering, distortions, ignorance, and fears -- and with a decidedly insightful mind points me toward a much better way to experience life. Any other way is not a way that leads me to the heaven on earth that he says is available to me. I find his thinking compelling.
Extraordinary. July 20, 2010 Bridget Manning (Ireland.) The Naked Now: Learning to See as the Mystics See
This is an extraordinary book by Richard Rohr. It is inspiring and revealing - helping us to see as the mystics saw. Every page turned is an insight into the divine and human aspect of God/Jesus and the divine and human part of ourselves. I recommend to all who are searching for the spiritual life within each one of us.
A New Way to Live with Awareness July 3, 2010 Mary J Baumgarten I found that this book (The Naked Now) is a confirmention of much of what I have experienced in my life....with out a label for it. What a wonderful experience in reading this book as a guide to living, sharing and praying throughout our life.
Richard Rohr has such a gift of the presence of God and ability to share it.
Another Depth Experience July 1, 2010 Carol S. Kassner (Seattle, WA) Richard Rohr has once again succeeded in inviting his readers into new levels of insight regarding the spiritual life. This time he focuses on the world of the mystics but also engages in a convincing critique of the ways organized religion has kept people away from such experiences. The chapters are short but pithy. The ideas invite repeated exploration until the meaning sinks in. The commitment to such an exploration is worth it.
