Excellent July 2, 2010 Yolanda Hill (NC) I ordered severeal of these to show to my kids. As we read each story I wanted to show them the movie behind it. The kids enjoyed these very much and at a inexpensive cost, it is definitely worth it. It's very engaging and can allow for much interaction with the kids.
Enjoyed this with the kids December 4, 2009 microjoe Greatest Heroes in an interesting series of animated programs, all include an introduction by Charlton Heston on the story we are about to see. The animation is good quality, full hand drawn 2D cel animation without shortcuts. In the middle of each episode in this series, they usually have a cutaway of another story from the bible, done in computer animation to contrast the two stories.
We bought this story, Daniel and the Lions Den, and the Story of Jonah. Jonah is my favorite, but this was good.
All versions of animated and live action stray from the source material and are not accurate, just like non-biblical movies are not accurate to the book they are based on. It is more of an issue in a biblical story as we all worry about people getting their facts wrong, but it is hard to avoid. Film makers balance what will make a story flow for the viewer, especially kids. In this "Greatest Heroes" version, most of the main characters are very young, perhaps to relate to kids more. But they are appealing characters that draw the kids in. This episode has great moral lessons, and if you have issues about the changes from scripture, always discuss the differences afterwords to your kids as we did. No extras on the DVD, sound and picture quality were good, no problems with playing the disc or the menu. I recommend buying this DVD.
Good Series September 12, 2009 ShootNShopGirl (San Antonio TX) My 6 yr grandson loves this series (except Charleton Heston's intro, which he says is boring)
Great representation of bible story July 13, 2009 M. Williams (southern Ohio) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We use many of the videos in this series for our "kids club" at church and they are always a HIT! The videos share a complete version of each story in a format that is interesting for all of the children in our group (kindergarten through 8th grade). These videos are a GREAT way to introduce children to many bible stories.
A story of courage and the faithfulness of God August 27, 2008 Patricia Llibre (Dominican Republic) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The production is very attractive to children. My 5 and 7 years old have watched the different stories over and over. Before going to school they used to watch useless TV, with this videos, the Bible stories are sinking in and giving us lots of opportunity to talk of the History of the People of God... a great tool for the non-reading ages.
The stories stick to the Bible version, not distorted or invented... It's the Bible illustrated... and it shall never pass!
