Description Although the original events depicted in this classic from the drug infested, gang dominated streets happened over thirty years ago, the life-changing solution that David Wilkerson brought to desperate lives was just beginning. The beat goes on. The change in the life of notorious gang leader Nicky Cruz, as shown in the film, proved to be wonderfully lasting and real. Nicky continues today to reach young people around the world with the same life-changing message of the gospel of Jesus Christ that delivered him from violence and despair. And what about the skinny preacher, David Wilkerson, who braved the meanest streets of New York to tell desperate and drug crazed youth that there was a better way? Now, three decades later, he is still at it with a ministry based in Times Square that is still changing lives and offering genuine hope to countless souls who had given up on life. Now in over 25 languages, The Cross and the Switchblade, starring Pat Boone and Eric Estrada, is one of those rare films that has shown its unique power to connect with the deepest hopes and fears of youth around the world. It remains today one of the most compelling stories of love, grace and the truth that no one is ever so far gone that they cannot find the way out. DVD Features: Languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, German and Polish language tracks with or without English Subtitles: English Viewing Format: Widescreen Digitally remastered from the original 35mm negative. Bonus Material: - Director's Commentary - Producer's Commentary - Biographical information on actors, director's commentary, testimony by Nicky Cruz, and a look back on the making of the film and its impact - Chapter titles for easy scene access

Movie December 30, 2009 Tim Denny This DVD replaces a old VHS movie of the same name. A excellent movie for all to see.
A MUST SEE MOVIE December 4, 2009 Sir Lance A truly inspiring and touching story. Something that can be viewed by the whole family. It teaches a life lesson that it's never too late to follow the Lord, and change your life.

I guess I'll be the first one to go against the grain here but I am a secular critic and this Evangelical Christian movie is not only uninteresting, but beyond silly.
I didn't cry with the same rigorous intensity as the rest of the movie theater. I didn't cry at all. Yeah, no kidding. Ask the rest of the movie theater. What an overated bore. I am still feeling all dead.
The major issue with it, is that it was so cliched. Go see it. I will not tell you it was well acted because if I hated it so much it obviously wasn't.
I have never laughed so hard and cried so little (at all) - all at the same time- for any movie. I usually laugh behind my hand so as not to disturb others but during this movie, I felt liberated to be silent as hard, loud and as long as I wanted.
I won't tell you casting was perfect because if I hated the characters and don't miss them already, it obviously wasn't.
It was never sly or delicate at the same time. It was not poetic - a description of life that reminds you of your life- your day- today is my day. We are alive, no? It reminds you of that in death.
Layers and layers of cliched words, thoughts, situations...you just want to dive in and never come up to the surface again.
There's a pretty interesting approach to these dumb religious films, an approach of cultic religion and of people using it as a veneer to hide serious structural defects in their souls and lives, and what happens when that facade starts to crack and fall off.
Good movie September 11, 2009 AwakeNow.co.uk The Cross And The Switchblade DVD.
This film is based on a true story of how a man of God was called to share the Good News to a gang member.
Whilst the movie is old, it is good and shows the ups and downs of gang
warefare. If it were not for the fact that it is a true story, some parts might be hard to believe, but the movie tells it how it happens.
Good movie of true life and Christ redemption - able to save to the uttermost. Glory to God.
Forgiveness September 10, 2009 G. M. Rivera This is a very inspirational movie; the book is obviously better. It shows that God can forgive all your sins and make you a better human being.
