A Delightful Family Show July 21, 2010 Valance (Whangarei, New Zealand) The second season to this wonderful show. The writing and acting have noticeably improved since the first series. There is a compelling charm to this second season that is particularly endearing.
One of my fave episodes which I often re-watch is 'Ebenezer Sprague' - the interaction between Laura and Walnut Grove's new banker is absolutely delightful.
The picture and sound quality is dodgy at times, but overall it's pretty good considering no remastering was done to the original tapes.
LHOTP is a welcome alternative to the bucket loads of sleazy, violent and brain-dead rubbish that studios are churning out these days. A classic series that will be enjoyed by all the family.
Great show with great values June 2, 2010 JCD (CHICAGO, IL) This is a great show with great values that show up in every episode. My kids love it and it is almost 40 years old. It is so refreshing to have the kids watch something that is a slower pace, relative to today's shows.
the bedrock of which all television should be judged by April 1, 2010 JGC 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Season 2 of "Little House on the Prairie" has always been one of my very favorites of the entire series because it includes so many heartfelt episodes that your entire family can appreciate. All of the actors, from the show's producer/director/star, Michael Landon to Melissa Gilbert (who played the lead role, Laura Ingalls Wilder, based on her children's books) are exceptional.
Included in this set is a total of 6 discs which includes a total of 22 eps. And this is in digipack which I personally prefer just because it looks nicer and is easer to get in an out of. In keeping with the spirit of the series, all of the shows have a wonderful message that are timeless and life affirming. One of my favorite eps is "Troublemaker." In this show, Laura becomes the target of a ruthless new teacher, hired to take over for Miss Beadle. So, as usual, it's Charles to the rescue, once again.
In season 6 Melissa Anderson really started to become a breakout star. Mary was the complete opposite to Laura, but so many people could relate to her because Ms. Anderson was able to put so much life and vitality into this role. And I feel that it was certainly a prelude to future seasons when so much tragedy and drama struck poor Mary.
"Little House" was recently pulled off Hallmark to make room for Martha Stewart's 7-hour a day daily-marathons which left a lot of longtime viewers of this classic, wholesome, family-friendly series very disappointed because no other show on TV currently captures the magic that "Little House" always did. If you feel like me I recommend getting these DVDs. It's a great way to reintroduce yourself to this classic show.
Michael Landon set such high standards and goals that no other television program has every been able to match the type of sentiment and emotion that "Little House" always attained. It is television gold.
Faes Media March 24, 2010 K. Weis (Missouri) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered a DVD set on 2/8/10 in hopes of receiving it by Valentines Day. I did not see a list of shipping methods so continued on and then when order was confirmed it said I would receive it between 2/16/10 and 3/3/10. That seemed like a huge window of time but that was fine. On 2/8/10 (same day as placed) I received an email thru Amazon: "Today faes_media shipped item(s) in your order, placed on February 08, 2010." It had been sent by common carrier. I thought that was great it went out so fast. However when I had not received it 10 days later I went to the website to check it's status. Well, I could not check its status because Faes_Media did not allow you to do that. All I received was a "don't do anything if it is still within the original shipping time given." Finally on 3/3/10 I emailed Faes_media inquiring as to where my shipment was. I received this back from them the same day:
"I am sorry that you have not received this order; it appears the
package may be lost. Please accept our sincere apologies for this
inconvenience.
It has recently come to our attention that all of our shipments from February 8th were either lost by the carrier or stolen. We hope that out understand that this is due to circumstances outside our control."
When I replied back as to the poor service for not notifying their customers (or Amazon) of the problem. They responded with this on 3/8/10: "It has recently come to our attention that all of our shipments from February 8th were either lost by the carrier or stolen. We hope that out understand that this is due to circumstances outside our control. We did not notify you sooner as we did not become aware of the problem until late last night, and were in the process of checking orders and informing customers when you contacted us." Did not know until last night, March 7th?! They had the same response on March 3rd!
I did receive a prompt refund but will NEVER buy anything from this company again!
Family TV series March 23, 2010 Catherine Butler (Cannon Falls, MN.) I am collecting all of the Little house on the prairie series before the repeats are taken off the TV channels, which would be a real shame. I think everyone should be able to watch them as they are all beautiful shows. Michael Landon never failed to entertain us all.
