The premiere season of Michael Landon's Highway to Heaven is consolidated into this collector's edition box set of seven discs containing 24 episodes of faith and love. The television series (1984-1989) has a loyal following because of its compelling storylines and uplifting messages characteristic of Landon, an icon of family-friendly entertainment since the early days of Little House on the Prairie and Bonanza. An angel on assignment from God is disguised as "everyman" Jonathan Smith in order to comfort--and sometimes miraculously guide--the lost and suffering through various dilemmas. Smith and his earthly cohort, ex-cop Mark Gordon (Victor French), journey across country to work as horse trainers, bellhops, baby-sitters--whatever the task requires. The collection leads with the two-part pilot episode that establishes Smith and Gordon's friendship. Other highlights of the collection include the two-part "Thoroughbreds" with guest star Helen Hunt as a woman who learns to risk love while battling cancer; and "Help Wanted: Angel" where Gordon is cast in a movie and falls in love with the leading lady. Especially poignant is a bonus documentary, "Michael Landon: Memories with Laughter and Love," a tribute to the prolific star including film clips and reminiscences by family members. (Ages 8 and older) --Lynn Gibson

A VERY GOOD SERIES April 26, 2010 Pascual Pena (Wilmington, DE) Highway To Heaven (First Season) has transported me to a distant time when I used to watch the episodes daily. In my opinion, each episode teaches a social, moral and spiritual lesson--something hardly found currently in TV programs. I recommend to anyone obtaining Highway To Heaven, the first season. Absolutely and old TV series to have!

A Good Family Friendly Show April 8, 2010 This series of DVDs begins with when Mark and Johnathan meet and begin traveling together to help people. I remember enjoying watching this TV show as a teenager. It's a breath of fresh air, as it doesn't focus on murder, rape, and other darkness that a lot of TV shows focus on today. It's an inspirational TV show about learning in life and gives people hope. It's similar to the TV show, "Touched By An Angel". A good family friendly show.
LEGACY April 6, 2010 JEFFETTE (ROSEVILLE MICHIGAN) Michael left the world these wonderful stories to learn lifes' lessons. The opening theme music is so moving it gives me chills every time I here it. Yes he was a class act all the way. There isn't a show on tv like it these days. My favorite show Michael you are incredibly missed. Your face and that concerned look you had for anyone in trouble. You were always there to help others. God Bless You sweet Michael where ever you are. This cant be the only life . Michael is up there some where. You were so good and kind . That look in your eye was priceless
A family show with sincere values March 6, 2010 Brian F. Mc Carthy (New Jersey) In the midst of hollywood going naughty,Michael Landon one of the most beloved actor of all time stood his ground with sincere moral values. Like with Little House on the Prairie Highway to Heaven provided the viewer with storys that touched our hearts with genuine sincerity. Michael proved again that a show like this has an everlasting impact on us. It constantly reminded us about the important issues in life. A brillant and very likeable co star in Victor French was perfect in his role as Michael's partner. Together they were on a spirtual journey working on assignments from God to help people through the difficult times that life often has. I am thrilled to own the first 3 seasons available. Certainly a worthy addition to any collection.
Must have Especially if you have kids!! November 6, 2009 Shlomo 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Put this series on and you will see just how much tv has has gone downhill in the past 20 yrs!! This series could never make it on the air these days because it is just too decent and contains the message of love of others instead of the consumption with one's self. If you have kids this is a must have series to let them get a glimpse into what decency among mankind is about.
